We score 100% on internet.nl. What does that mean?
The government test for modern internet standards, explained
Test your own website
What is internet.nl?
Internet.nl is an independent testing tool from the Platform Internet Standards, a collaboration between the internet community and the Dutch government. The goal: to make the internet more accessible, secure, and reliable for everyone.
Independent test
No commercial interest, purely focused on improving internet security for everyone.
Government backed
Supported by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, NCSC, SIDN, SURF, and others.
Concrete score
You receive a percentage from 0% to 100%, plus specific improvement points for each component.
Why are modern standards important?
The original internet standards date back to the 1970s and 1980s, when there were only a handful of users. Now there are more than 3 billion. We share privacy-sensitive information, conduct financial transactions, and rely on email for business communication.
The old standards weren’t built for this. Criminals exploit the SMTP protocol to forge sender addresses, for example. Modern standards close these gaps.
What gets tested?
Website test
| IPv6 | Modern internet address, ready for the future when IPv4 addresses run out |
| DNSSEC | Verifies you’re actually reaching the correct website, not a fake version |
| HTTPS/TLS | Encrypts the connection between visitor and website so no one can eavesdrop |
| Security.txt | Enables security researchers to report vulnerabilities |
| RPKI | Prevents internet traffic from being redirected to malicious servers |
Email test
| SPF | Specifies which servers are allowed to send email on behalf of your domain |
| DKIM | Digital signature proving the email wasn’t altered in transit |
| DMARC | Tells recipients what to do with email that doesn’t meet SPF/DKIM requirements |
| STARTTLS | Encrypts email during transport between mail servers |
| DANE | Extra verification layer that checks if the mail server certificate is valid |
What does a 100% score mean?
Security
Connections are encrypted, email is protected against spoofing and phishing.
Reliability
Visitors actually reach your website, not a fake version.
Future-proof
The infrastructure is ready for the coming years and new developments.
Professionalism
It demonstrates that an organization takes security and quality seriously.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is internet.nl an official government test?
Yes, the Platform Internet Standards is a collaboration between the Dutch government (including the Ministry of Economic Affairs and NCSC) and the internet community (SIDN, SURF, NLnet Labs, and others). The tool is widely recognized as the standard for testing modern internet standards.
How often are the requirements tightened?
Regularly. Internet.nl adds new tests and tightens existing criteria as technology evolves. A score from last year is no guarantee for this year. That’s why we continuously monitor our scores.
My website scores low, is that bad?
That depends on your situation. For a personal blog, it’s less critical than for a webshop or organization that processes sensitive data. But every improvement makes the internet safer, and a higher score builds more trust with visitors.
Can EasyData improve my score?
In most cases, yes. Many improvements involve server configuration: setting up DNSSEC, adjusting TLS versions, configuring email security. Contact us for a free analysis of your current situation.
What if my hosting provider doesn’t support the standards?
Then it becomes difficult to achieve a high score. Some standards like IPv6 and DNSSEC must be supported by the provider. In that case, consider a provider that does support modern standards, or discuss the options with your current provider.
